Below this top layer there was 0.5 &#8211; 2 metres<\/p>\n<p>firm dry crust clay. Furthermore, it was relatively soft clay<\/p>\n<p>to great depth. The clay was slightly to moderately sensitive.<\/p>\n<p>Existing buildings were founded directly on soles<\/p>\n<p>at the camp. It was assumed that the rock lay in approx. 50 meters<\/p>\n<p>depth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Solution<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The solution was to install a block of jet piles<\/p>\n<p>as basic reinforcement within existing<\/p>\n<p>foundations. Loads were to be transferred to<\/p>\n<p>temporary foundations with stamping on<\/p>\n<p>the jet piles, which would also act as safeguards for<\/p>\n<p>construction pit for excavating the banquette and P-cellar.<\/p>\n<p>The jet piles were established with a 10 degree incline towards<\/p>\n<p>existing foundations. It was carried out<\/p>\n<p>excavation down to two different levels before the jet piles<\/p>\n<p>was installed. A total of 124 were established<\/p>\n<p>jet piles.
