One<\/p>\n<p>building in the backyard was demolished and replaced with a new residential building<\/p>\n<p>on 6 floors above ground and 3 lower floors with parking.<\/p>\n<p>The construction pit required bracing, and a permanent one<\/p>\n<p>refoundation to mountains was carried out, together with a<\/p>\n<p>pillar wall for securing the construction pit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Basic conditions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The terrain was flat at level C+22.6 in the backyard, and varied<\/p>\n<p>from C+22 to C+13 at mountain level below the building. The reason consisted of<\/p>\n<p>soft clay, with groundwater of approx. C+21.0. Challenging<\/p>\n<p>ground conditions with quick clay required additional safeguards.<\/p>\n<p>Prerequisites<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Excavation plan for main building C+18.7.<\/li>\n<li>Excavation plan for parking building C+14.5.<\/li>\n<li>Jet pile walls dimensioned as<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>gravity structures.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Safety against overturning and horizontal displacement on<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1.3.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Solution<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The permanent security structure consisted of a wall<\/p>\n<p>with piles down to mountains or C+17.5. To ensure stability,<\/p>\n<p>two rows of piles installed with inclination.
