Orientation about the project

Søndra Länken is a 6 km long traffic line under Stockholm’s Søndra

nearby areas. SL24 is one of many works going on at the same time.

The work at the Sickla traffic area included the sealing of

the soil/moraine layer between UK piling and rock. The sheet pile wall’s total

length was 270 metres.

Basic conditions

Larger parts of the area consist of fill masses with varying

power (0 to 3 meters). Under the embankment are mountains, the moors,

dry crust clay and a maximum of 5 meters of clay. The moraine is silty and

simultaneously contains stone and blocks.

Problem statement

Sealing of sheet piling against the underlying rock surface. The piles stayed

installed after it was pre-drilled through pre-installed pipe on

the pile and down 0.5 meters into the mountain. The height of the jet pile wall varied from

0 to 3.5 meters depending on how deep the piling was rammed down.

The requirements for density were 5×10-9 m/s. The C/C distance between the piles was

600mm. 450 piles were installed. The piles were installed at a depth of 6

to 14 meters.
