Basic conditions
At the top there was 0.5 – 2 meters of filled sand and
gravel. Below this top layer there was 0.5 – 2 metres
firm dry crust clay. Furthermore, it was relatively soft clay
to great depth. The clay was slightly to moderately sensitive.
Existing buildings were founded directly on soles
at the camp. It was assumed that the rock lay in approx. 50 meters
depth.
Solution
The solution was to install a block of jet piles
as basic reinforcement within existing
foundations. Loads were to be transferred to
temporary foundations with stamping on
the jet piles, which would also act as safeguards for
construction pit for excavating the banquette and P-cellar.
The jet piles were established with a 10 degree incline towards
existing foundations. It was carried out
excavation down to two different levels before the jet piles
was installed. A total of 124 were established
jet piles. The piles had diameters of 1.6 meters and
1.8 meters and lengths of between 5 and 8 metres.
